Reality Fighters PlayStation Vita

Reality Fighters PlayStation Vita

Sony’s new handheld gaming unit, called the PS Vita, has quite a few new interesting features. One of the major features that they are showing off is the inclusion of a front and rear camera on the unit so that the gamer can become more immersed within the game. One of Sony’s latest feats – “Reality Fighters” – makes use of this feature more than any other game on the Vita.

The Front Camera

The front camera allows you to scan your face right into the game. The software captures an area around your face and alters it so that it will fit onto the 3D model of the character fighting in the game. Having a gaming version of yourself in a game is something that looks set to be part of the future of gaming experiences.

This process happens extremely fast on the Vita and, in a few moments, you will be staring back at yourself. Once the scan of the face is in and the character is made, then the player can customize just about every aspect of their on screen persona. The weight, height, hair, clothing, and numerous other options are at the player’s disposal and so you can make a character that looks exactly like you.

Fully Customizable

There are at least three hundred different customizable articles of clothing to choose from and twenty different weapons that can be unlocked throughout the game. The fact that the PS Vita is extremely internet friendly means that more content can be added by simple download.

The Rear Camera

While some of this has been around for some time on the latest generation of portable gaming devices, what really sets Reality Fighters for the PS Vita apart from the rest is that it makes use of the PS Vita’s rear facing camera to create fight scenes based on the surroundings of the player. So if you’re in the subway, then the background to the fighting match will be the subway where you’re at. If the player is out at the mall, then the people passing by will become a part of the game. If you’re sitting in bed playing at night, then the characters that you’re playing with will be fighting on your bed sheets. All of this happens in real time without causing any delays in the games processing ability.

A platform game in which you control a small animated character through a series of obstacles in a cell-shaded graphical world, may sound like something that has come from Nintendo. But the launch of Little Big Planet on the PS3 back in 2007 proved to be one of Sony’s biggest PS3 success stories.

Both Kids and Adults

Little Big Planet is a game that is suitable for old and young alike. It is a concept by which you move through obstacles like any other platform game. The only difference is that you can create your own levels for you or your friends to play through. The level design, the characters and the story is all made by you and so there is almost unlimited customization.

While the PSP version of Little Big Planet was enjoyable, it was not as well liked as the PS3 counterpart. This was mainly down the limited controls that the PSP offered. PSP users found it frustrating at times to try and create a game level with a lack of suitable control methods.
However, the PS Vita changes all that. The combination of the touch screen, dual analog sticks and a touch pad at the back, mean that Little Big Planet for the Vita may even enable easier level design than the PS3.

A Console Game in Your Hand

Many of the features from the original PS3 version are translatable to the PS Vita with the touch screen making some aspects of the game more interesting and more innovative.

This charming little platform game on the Vita means that the use of the touch screen for playing through the levels is also a bonus. The touch application is utilized through having blue objects in the game that indicate that this object is touchable. You can then touch them to allow Sackboy (your playable character) to move through the level in a variety of different ways.

For example, you can pull back on a sling shot and then let go to release Sackboy flying across the level. The internal controls based on the PS3 control’s SIXAXIS system means that you tilt the whole control to allow moveable objects to slide through the level.

Vita Functionality

The game also features puzzles that allow you to fully utilize the many controls of the Vita. For example, there are intriguing puzzles where you have to push out blocks with the rear touch pad on the device in order to remove obstacles or reveal a message.

Street Fighter X Tekken Review

Whether you are a fan of console fighting games or prefer the feel of the arcade, you have undoubtedly heard of the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises. With roots dating back as far as the Super Nintendo and the original PlayStation consoles, these franchises have been entertaining fans of the genre and pushing the boundaries of fighting games for over a decade. With the recent announcement of Street Fighter X Tekken, these two franchises are colliding in an all-out battle for supremacy. With a release on the PS Vita, you can expect more innovation and exciting action that ever before.

Cross-Play Compatibility

The production team of Street Fighter X Tekken has been hard at working making sure that the Cross Play features of the game work flawlessly. This means you can start a game on the PlayStation 3 and transfer controls to the PS Vita to take your game with you. When you get back to your PS3, simply transfer controls again and pick up where you left off on the Vita.

These features are part of what makes the PS Vita blur the lines between console and handheld gaming. To help provide a seamless experience, the makers of Street Fighter X Tekken are working with Sony to allow all downloadable content purchased for the PS Vita or PS3 versions of the game to be accessible on both devices. This means you can enjoy any levels, characters or expansions you have purchased on both devices with one simple purchase.

Harnessing the Power of the PS Vita

A variety of control options are available for the PS Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken. Fighting purists will be glad to know that traditional controls are available using the directional pad and buttons. However, the touch screens add a level of customization to your gaming experience. By using the front and rear touch screens to input commands or start powerful team attacks and combos, you can dominate the playing field and annihilate your foes. These features were added to create a more fluid and intuitive control system using the strengths of the PS Vita. Varying control modes will make it easy to beginners to enjoy the action while allowing experienced players to duplicate the intricacies and tactics of tournament level play.

Wipeout 2048 Game Review

Wipeout 2048 Review

Wipeout 2048 Game Review – PlayStation Vita

First announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Wipeout 2048 ranked amongst one of the most anticipated games that were detailed. Sony’s latest handheld – the Vita – is a great medium on which to establish one of Sony’s most successful franchises: the Wipeout series. Wipeout 2048 is a racing game that is similar to the previous Wipeout games in the series. Set in the future, the fast- paced slides and turns translate amazingly to the PS Vita.

New Vita Controls Offer an Advantage

Now that Sony has added in a touch screen and touch pad to its arsenal of tricks, it has radically changed the way that quality games will be controlled on portable gaming systems. Wipeout 2048 really shows off all of the new features that Sony has packed into the Vita. The steering can be controlled with the directional pad and the new dual analog sticks. This allows the player a greater degree of control over movement and gives you fluid movement when racing.

Even for this futuristic racing game, Sony implemented some features that make use of the touch screen. Other touch screen gaming devices such as the Nintendo DS have failed to make good use of it in their racing games such as Mario Kart.

If the player presses on the bottom left corner then their vehicle will perform a absorb maneuver. If the bottom right is touched then that activates the ship’s weapon firing. The back touch panel is also useful. When the player taps the back of the unit, then it will activate the ships thrust to quickly fly around corners.

Voice and Motion Control

Cleverly for Wipeout 2048, Sony has also added in optional voice and motion controls. You can make turns in Wipeout 2048 with just the flick of the wrist using Sony’s built in SIXAXIS motion sensing technology. Being able to let go of the analog sticks and just turn from side to side to guide your ship is one of the best features in this game. Steering your speeding ship along those raceways instantly puts you closer to the space race action.

Even gun firing can be controlled by using voice commands as the unit has a built in microphone. The combination of fluid steering and being able to use voice commands to destroy enemy racers means that you can truly feel like the captain of a space ship.

Full Integration

Sony also designed this title with full integration in mind. They are making moves to create content that can be played with users that have both a Playstation 3 unit and the handheld. The Playstation 3 version of Wipeout HD can be played on the Vita! The major difference is that now handheld players can actually play against people that are playing on the PS3 system. This cross-platform compatibility is a revolutionary feature that has not been seen in the portable market anywhere else to this date.

Wipeout 2048 has gotten some seriously positive buzz from attendees on the E3 show floor that were lucky enough to experience this new way of controlling a video game early. The seamless integration with the PS3 version of Wipeout had heads turning as the handheld version looks just as vibrant. It looks like Sony may have a winner on their hands with this title.

Free Playstation Vita

The next generation handheld console: Playstation Vita

Free Playstation Vita

A Free PlayStation Vita is very unlikely at this stage as it has not yet been released, but we will hear news about how you can get your hands on a Free Playstation Vita later in the year. The all new Playstation Vita is the latest remodel of the Playstation Portable and is a welcome addition to the Playstation family. The Playstation Vita addresses some of the major structural issues of the Playstation series as well as bringing in a wealth of new features in the already robust handheld gaming console. The PSVITA brings the most for their fans through the complete redesign of the PSP control placements. Anyone who owned any of the previous PSP would agree that it puts a lot of stress on the thumb when accessing the joystick. Playstation Vita improves on the existing design by bringing the joysticks closer to the screen at a very comfortable location to grab. The joysticks are also a lot more comfortable than the older models.

So, that was all that the PSVITA brought in terms of structural improvements, now let’s look at the completely new technologies in VITA. The first thing you would notice is the touch screen display. Yes, unlike the older versions, Playstation Vita has a touch screen display. The other thing you will notice is the motion sensor in the new Vita which is used in some games to control the camera or view depending on the tilt or the motion of the PSVITA.

The new Playstation Vita also comes equipped with two built in cameras which allow you to interact with your PSVITA like never before. The rear camera can be used to bring your environment into the game or the front camera can be used to bring yourself into the game. Augmented reality was never any better. The new PSVITA has, like all the improvements of the original PSP, improvements in the graphics hardware as well as the flash memory size. The Playstation Vita has improved display system with a smoothening filter which reduces the jagged edges which was prominent in all the other PSP.

All in all, the PSVITA is a completely revamped PSP with all the functionalities that the PSP lacked. The VITA supports full backward compatibility for all previous PSP games and supports direct play with the PS3. The design of the console goes back to the original oval PSP design and so far is the best handheld console to hit the shelves worldwide. The Playstation Vita was named this because Vita in Latin means Life and with the new features of the Vita, it’s no wonder it lives up to its name.  After getting released in Japan last year, the console will make its launch in the western market by February according to Sony.
